Product Review: Dioxyme Supplements

If there is one thing that gets us excited, it's a supplement company that makes supplements with clean and high quality ingredients AND also manages to make it taste good.
Recently we came across such a company and we were lucky enough to be able to try and test their products.

Dioxyme is a supplement company based in Florida and has been making exactly those kind of supplements.

They currently carry 4 different products:
  • New Zealand Whey Protein
  • BCAA 6-3-3
  • M.P.O.
  • Omega-3

New Zealand Whey Protein

What already makes it stand out from other whey proteins, is that it's mainly whey isolate based. On top of that, it's also 100% grass-fed whey, hormone- and antibiotic free.

Whey isolate has a lower lactose content and provides a higher amount of protein per gram.

The whey protein comes in a variety of flavors and we got to try all of them.

Chocolate - Of course we tried the chocolate first, our all-time favorite. It's smooth, creamy and not too sweet. Delicious, 10/10.
Coconut - Our second favorite!
Vanilla - Delicious, creamy vanilla flavor.
Vanilla Berry - More fruity, no a personal favorite, but we aren't fruity fans when it comes to whey.
Orange Creamsicle - Wouldn't be a personal choice, but the flavor was actually really pleasant.
Cinnamon Bun - Really, really nice! Top 3!

Conclusion: This whey tastes fantastic, mixes really well and we are picky.

Omega-3

If there is one supplement we'd reccommend taking, it's omega-3. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential to the body, and most (Western) diets have way too little omega-3 and
too much omega-6. Supplementing with omega-3 fights inflammation and promotes protein metabolism.

Each serving of Dioxyme Omega-3 contains 800mg of EPA & 600mg of DHA (about 4 times more that the average fish oil) No fishy aftertaste or burps.

BCAA 6-3-3

On BCAA's you can say there are 2 camps: people that swear by it and the folks that feel it doesn't do
anything extra for them.
Personally, we don't really use extra BCAA's other that the ones that are already in the supplements we use.

There are 2 types of amino acids: essential and non-essential. The non-essential ones can be made by our own body, supplementing them is basically useless.

BCAA 6-3-3 contains only essential amino acids in a ratio of 6 grams of leucine, 3 grams of valine and 3 grams of isoleucine. Let's just say your getting your money's worth.

We took the BCAA's during a workout, both lemonade and tangerine have a nice taste that is not too sweet and artificial.

M.P.O. (Muscle Protein Optimizer)

M.P.O. is a combination of creatine, HMB, beta-alanine, alpha-hydroxyisocaproic acid (HICA) and phosphatidic acid.

Studies have shown that all of these ingredients are able to improve performance, prevent muscle breakdown and increase lean body mass.

The difference between M.P.O. and a pre-workout for example, is that M.P.O. doesn't contain a stimulant like caffeine, but still has all the benefits for better performance.

Per scoop it contains the ideal dosage and it's clearly described on the label, no vague proprietary blends. The lemonade flavor is subtle and tastes really good.

Conclusion

Some inside information:

In the next several weeks, they will be introducing 3 new BCAA flavors: blue razz, fruit punch and watermelon.

Hopefully in the next 6-8 weeks, they will be introducing a new product called N2O4.  N2O4 is the chemical formula for rocket fuel  :)  It is an unflavored cluster dextrin from tapioca (unlike the original which is from GMO corn) formulated with buffered electrolytes. Buffered electrolytes provide electrolyte replenishment but help alkalinize the system. It is designed for athletes during competition and we envision athletes mixing this either with our own BCAA's and using it during competitions (ideal for crossfit, triathlon, OCR, swimmers, runners etc) or with protein after a competition for glycogen recovery and protein recovery.
